The soccer (football) World Cup is an excellent chance to learn more about the world and about the host country, South Africa.

The final, as well as some of the opening-round matches, will be played in the capital Johannesburg. Other cities and towns where games will be played are Blemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria, and Rustenburg. (Click here for a map showing these cities.)

Then there are the countries represented. Out of the 204 that sent teams to qualifying matches during the past two years, 32 made the final tournament. Below is a map showing which countries (highlighted in green) have teams in the World Cup:
