It's trash talk but of the good news kind.

A challenge of cleaning up litter that dates to 2015 has gotten an update thanks to a new viral challenge. The challenge was in the form of a Facebook post by a man named Byron Roman, whose post contained before-and-after photos of a neighborhood. In the first photo, he is sitting amidst a sea of trash; in the second photo, he is standing behind a total of nine large trash bags into which he put all of the trash he found on the ground.

That Facebook post is no longer online, but it was shared 314,000 times and inspired many people all over the world to share their own #trashtag experiences.

The hashtag dates to the Trashtag Project, a promotion by outdoor company Utility, Comfort, and Originality (UCO) that encouraged people to post similar before-and-after photos of themselves in order to go into a draw with a chance to win free gear.
