Norway Tops Medals Table Again at Winter Olympics
February 20, 2022 Norway won the most gold medals and the most medals overall at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Theresa Johaug (right) won the first gold medal of the Olympics, powering to victory in the women's skiathlon. During the Games, she won gold in the 10-kilometer classic event. And then she won the Games' final gold, in the 30-kilometer freestyle, receiving her medal during the Closing Ceremonies. Other gold medal winners for Norway:

Overall, Norway have won the most medals of any country at the Winter Olympics. Norwegians have amassed 405 medals since the first Winter Games, in 1924. Second-most all-time is the United States, with 330. Germany, with 286, is third. Of the 24 Winter Olympic Games, Norway has won the most medals nine times: 1924, 1928, 1936, 1948 (tied with Sweden), 1952, 1968, 2002, and 2022. |
