• Helen Keller: A Thirst for Learning

Helen Keller gained fame by learning how to communicate and even speak despite being struck by a fever that left her blind and deaf before she was 2. She was an inspiration to a great many people throughout her long, famous life.

Here is a selection of the famous things that Helen said:

  • Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.
  • Never bend your head. Hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.
  • Self-pity is our worst enemy and if we yield to it, we can never do anything good in the world.
  • The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt within the heart.
