Boba, MVP of Puppy Bowl XIIX In an extremely close battle, Team Fluff won the Puppy Bowl, defeating Team Ruff 73–69 and winning the Lombarky Trophy. The Most Valuable Pup was Boba, (right) who scored the first two touchdowns of the game. Scoring the game-winner was Twilight Barkle, who picked up the ball as time expired and then scored the winning goal. (A referee's review upheld the initial ruling of a touchdown.) It was Team Fluff's second straight win.

The all-dog precursor to the Super Bowl was in its 22nd year. The contest featured 150 dogs from 72 shelters from across the U.S. and also from Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands. All dogs, including six with special needs, have been adopted. In a first, the halftime show featured a Pro-Dog Halftime Showdown, featuring senior dogs, divided into two opposing teams, Team Goldies and Team Oldies.

Familiar faces included longtime referee Dan Schachner and the kitty cheerleaders, who performed at halftime.

The Puppy Bowl is an annual precursor to the Super Bowl, professional football's championship game. Winning that contest this year were the Seattle Seahawks, defeating the New England Patriots 29–13.
