Xerxes
Definition: Persian
emperor who was a successor to Cyrus and Darius. Consumed
with desire to conquer Greece. Commanded huge army during
Persian Wars. Even though he outnumbered the Greek heavily,
he still managed to lose several battles, including the
famous naval battle of Salamis, which he witnessed
personally.
