Definition: Famous archon whose set of laws were harsh and unforgiving. The penalty for many offenses was death. Such harsh laws were said to be "draconian," a word that exists to this today. Still, his achievement was putting all the laws in place and writing them down, making them known to everyone. And some of those harsh laws were aimed to curb the powers of tyrants.
