Definition: Roman leader who fought with both Crassus and Pompey against Julius Caesar in the wars that led to Caesar's becoming dictator. Cassius organized the plot to kill Caesar and also helped kill him. He later fought with Brutus against Octavian and Marc Antony at Philippi. After his defeat, he took his own life.
