Definition: Lake far in the north of New York that saw its share of Revolutionary War battles. It was the staging point for a handful of invasions from and of Canada, and it was the scene of a brilliant naval victory by American General Benedict Arnold against a much larger British force. It was also the scene of the War of 1812 Battle of Plattsburg, a great American victory.
