Definition: Led the British victory at Louisbourg, which earned him the position of overall commander of British forces in North America. He captured Fort Crown Point and Fort Ticonderoga and directed the capture of Montreal and the end of the war. It is said that one of his favorite tactics was to give disease-ridden blankets to prisoners of war.
