Ski jumping is exactly what it sounds like. Athletes race down a frozen ramp and then take off, soaring through the air. The one who goes the farthest before landing usually wins, although style points are also given by judges.

The ramp is anywhere from 110 to 130 meters. Ski jumpers must land in the famous Telemark style, with one foot in front of the other. They are given several jumps, and the longest one counts.

Ski jumping has been part of the Winter Olympics since the beginning.
