Radio Flyer is seeking ideas for new products from the general public.

The makers of well-known wagons, tricycles, scooters, and other rideable toys said that the web-based product search would require a $20 submission fee but that successful idea-creators would receive a minimum of $2,500 in advance and a split of future royalties.

The company has expanded its offerings since the creation of the iconic Radio Flyer wagon in 1923, offering not only more than 50 models of wagons (of metal or plastic) but also other modes of transport, including the Ziggle scooter, which enables riders to get their upper body into the action while they're riding along.

The product search, the first in the history of the 96-year-old Chicago-based company, will last until Jan. 6, 2014.
