Skyscrapers Added to World Trade Center Site

The World Trade Center site is getting more crowded all the time.

Architects have revealed designs for three office towers that will join the 1,776-foot Freedom Tower on the site of the World Trade Center buildings that were destroyed by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

These office towers will be smaller than the Freedom Tower and will create a semicircle of buildings around the memorial. One of the skyscrapers is said to have 78 floors and have on its roof four shining diamonds that would shine over the city at night.

A transit hub and performing arts center are also planned for the site. Construction of all of these structures is scheduled to begin in 2007 and be complete by 2012. The original World Trade Center buildings had 10 million square feet of office space. These new buildings are projected to have 6 million square feet.
