The Cat in the Hat will soon be seen on the screen.

Dr. Seuss's books, 41 of the 44 he wrote, to be precise, will make the journey to digital publication, according to publisher Random House Children's Books. In the first of three waves, the following will be released, at prices from $7.99 to $10.99:

  • The Cat in the Hat
  • The Cat in the Hat Comes Back
  • Dr. Seuss's ABC
  • The Foot Book
  • Fox in Socks
  • Green Eggs and Ham
  • Horton Hears a Who!
  • Hop on Pop
  • The Lorax
  • Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?
  • Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!
  • One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish
  • There's a Wocket in My Pocket!
  • The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins.

Random House insists that the original layouts and illustrations will survive the transfer from printed book to digital book. Also to be released are audio versions of the books.

Dr. Seuss was the pen name of Theodor Geisel, whose creations have resulted in 600 million book sales over the years, as well as many toys, items of clothing, a Broadway musical, and even a theme-park attraction.
